About the Role
The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion acts as AtriCure's principal diversity, inclusion, and equity strategist and champion to define the overarching vision and strategy to empower AtriCure to be a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) partners with senior leaders to accelerate AtriCure strategies around DE&I and enterprise-level programs that enable, promote, and advance a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive workforce.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) acts as a visionary and strategist developing and implementing a comprehensive DE&I strategy, programs, and initiatives for AtriCure to support our mission. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provides thought leadership and collaborates across the company by creating solutions to promote a diverse and inclusive environment.
Acts as the DE&I champion internally and externally.
Serve as the DE&I subject matter expert, consulting with executive leadership and the HR function to understand and identify areas of opportunity to deliver on our strategies.
Builds trusting relationships with the executive team and influences all managers to create awareness, support, and advocacy for DE&I efforts to attract, develop, and retain talent.
Collaborates with AtriCure senior leaders and leadership teams to review progress, course corrections, and shared accountability.
Advises, manages, and tracks vital company DE&I metrics to measure program effectiveness against established goals.
Partner with HR colleagues to provide insight into focus programs in hiring, retention, rewards, development, and engagement to support our DE&I vision.
Identifies opportunities to promote DE&I in our professional communities and build upon AtriCure's reputation as an inclusive, diverse, and equitable employer of choice.
Participates in conferences and events to network, benchmark, and enhance the AtriCure brand.
In partnership with our Learning and Development team, develop, implement, and deliver learning and awareness programs (e.g., racial equity, unconscious bias, courageous conversations, inclusive leadership) to foster a more inclusive culture
In partnership with our Recruitment team, establish a talent strategy to attract diverse global talent.
Establish and lead our internal DE&I council, supporting the growth and development of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
Partner with our marketing communications team to ensure connected and engaging DE&I messaging internally and externally
Leverage data, external benchmarks, best practices, and insights to influence and facilitate organizational change to foster DE&I
Provide coaching to leaders and managers to enhance their capability to be inclusive leaders and allies.
Ensure compliance with government diversity/equity regulations and reporting requirements
Recruit and manage future DE&I personnel as function expands

CAPABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:
Expert knowledge in diversity and inclusion, including modern strategies and related metrics/ KPIs.
Experience developing driving inclusion initiatives, such as organization-wide diversity training and multicultural events.
Strategic and innovative thinker with experience in strategy design program development.
Strong business acumen & judgment
Experience in employing effective problem solving and change leadership.
Resilient and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; delivery focused with significant drive and energy.
Bachelor's degree required or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
10+ years of senior leadership experience in culture, diversity, inclusion, and/or talent management.
Experience in a strategic role with an executive-level interface and a high degree of executive influence
Strong acumen with diversity concepts and programs
Proven ability to implement projects/programs and lead change
Strong operational, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
Collaborative with a natural orientation towards community building
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for specific audiences
Ability to travel 20%
Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
